The 'POD' Unit: Apartment Interior

Conceived for a young bachelor, The POD Unit explores the idea of home as an adaptable landscape rather than a collection of fixed rooms. By reconfiguring a conventional apartment, the design establishes interconnected living pods that respond to changing patterns of work, leisure, and social interaction. The removal of the third bedroom creates a fluid relationship between the media lounge and the living spaces, articulated through a bespoke perforated timber sliding screen with green marble inlays that balances openness with privacy. A sculptural amoeboidal seating element further dissolves the boundary between furniture and architecture, encouraging informal gathering and connection. The kitchen, dining, and study are seamlessly integrated into the social core, reflecting contemporary urban lifestyles. A restrained palette of timber, stone, lime-textured walls, cane, textured glass, and brushed brass celebrates craftsmanship and material honesty. Through spatial flexibility, layered sightlines, and carefully crafted details, The POD Unit demonstrates that contemporary luxury is defined by adaptability, precision, and the quality of everyday living.
